Technical Sales Manager APAC – Data Centers

IMI Climate Control
•Hybrid

About The Position

The Technical Sales Manager converts IMI’s mission-critical Data Center cooling strategy into technically credible, operationally deliverable customer programs. The role requires deep fluency in hydronics, secondary cooling loops, direct-to-chip (DTC) / direct liquid cooling (DLC), coolant distribution, flow control, validation, and site-readiness requirements for high-density AI, HPC, hyperscale, colocation, and OEM environments.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in mission-critical infrastructure, technical sales leadership, application engineering, or strategy execution; 5+ years in data center cooling, hydronics, HVAC, or high-density liquid cooling required.
  • Proven engagement with hyperscale engineering teams, colocation operators, Tier-1 OEMs, MEP consultants, or facility operators on high-availability cooling programs.
  • Deep knowledge of secondary loops, flow balancing, pressure control, thermal transients, cold plates, CDUs, DTC/DLC systems, water quality, fluid compatibility, ASHRAE TC 9.9, and OCP.
  • Ability to lead engineering, product, supply chain, operations, quality, field service, and commercial teams from design review through commissioning and support.
  • Strong capability in technical qualification, Salesforce discipline, proposal governance, risk mitigation, and customer-facing executive communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer cooling requirements into executable solutions spanning hydronic architecture, cold-plate integration, CDU interfaces, secondary loop control, commissioning needs, and operating reliability.
  • Remove cross-functional blockers across application engineering, product management, supply chain, operations, legal, and commercial teams so cooling commitments are technically sound and deliverable at hyperscale sales-cycle speed.
  • Shape technical and channel partnerships where they strengthen DTC/DLC deployment, hydronic completeness, field service readiness, or customer access across OEM, colocation, and consulting channels.
  • Guide secondary white-space cooling loops, flow balancing, pressure control, filtration, water treatment, fluid compatibility, leak-risk mitigation, and maintainability for high-density racks.
  • Understand single-phase DTC systems using closed microchannel cold plates and treated water or water-glycol fluids such as PG25, where heat is removed as sensible heat without phase transition.
  • Understand two-phase DTC systems using dielectric fluids or refrigerants in sealed evaporator cold plates, where chip-level heat vaporizes the fluid and transfers energy through latent heat to a condenser.
  • Oversee validation packages, CFD models, BIM/Revit libraries, real-silicon test inputs, controls narratives, and failure-mode reviews supporting customer design reviews and OEM qualification.
  • Ensure technical positions align with relevant ASHRAE TC 9.9, OCP ORV3, commissioning, serviceability, redundancy, and uptime expectations for mission-critical environments.
  • Convert feedback from hyperscale architects, colocation operators, Tier-1 OEMs, and MEP consultants into prioritized requirements for DTC/DLC readiness, rack-level hydronics, controls, manifolds, and service models.
  • Coordinate fast-lane fulfillment, buffer stock, spares, site logistics, commissioning support, and escalation paths required for mission-critical installations.
  • Govern quality protocols, leak testing, component traceability, controls handoff, SLA support, and fail-safe operating frameworks that protect uptime and customer trust.
