About The Position

This on-site role in Laredo, Texas, provides Schneider Electric’s daily technical presence in support of its Energy Manager and the TAMIU Campus Operations team. The hands-on position helps maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus HVAC, hydronic, electrical, irrigation, and building automation systems. It responds to mechanical and controls issues, performs troubleshooting and basic repairs within applicable training and safety requirements, coordinates specialty contractors, documents work, and supports ongoing optimization of the central utility plant and connected facilities. The role supports campus HVAC and building automation operations, central plant efficiency, commissioning and functional verification, maintenance coordination, contractor oversight, performance reviews, trend analysis, energy-saving opportunities, and client reporting. It also provides technical training and contributes to operating procedures and site documentation. The position requires a visible, professional presence and productive working relationships with facility staff, administrators, building representatives, vendors, and contractors. The work is performed on-site at TAMIU Monday through Friday, except approved holidays or authorized leave. A typical work week may be approximately 45 to 50 hours, with periodic phone or on-site support outside normal hours when operational needs require escalation. The role involves walking a large campus, climbing stairs and ladders, accessing mechanical rooms, rooftops, and equipment areas, working around heat, noise, and active machinery, and safely lifting and carrying customary tools or components. Work must remain within the individual’s training, licenses, authorization, and safety requirements; specialized, regulated, high-voltage, refrigerant, or major repair work must be escalated to qualified personnel or contractors. Final scope, schedule, reporting relationship, compensation, and employment requirements are subject to Schneider Electric Human Resources review and the governing TAMIU contract.
