About The Position

AMD is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Release Manager to join our Software Engineering organization. In this role, you will serve as a critical bridge between multiple Business Units and product owners, driving alignment on feature planning, release roadmaps, and issue resolution. You will also lead bug triage operations — ensuring incoming defects are accurately routed to the correct owners and driven to logical resolution within committed timelines. This is a high-visibility role requiring strong cross-functional collaboration, technical acumen, and exceptional organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working across multiple BUs or product lines in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Strong background in bug triage processes, defect lifecycle management, and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and release planning frameworks.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles (SDLC) in hardware/software co-development environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, drive decisions, and maintain momentum across large, distributed teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with multiple business units and product owners to gather, consolidate, and align feature requests into a cohesive release roadmap.
  • Facilitate roadmap planning sessions, sprint reviews, and milestone reviews across engineering, product, and program management teams.
  • Track feature commitments, dependencies, and delivery timelines; proactively surface risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for release scope, feature status, and schedule across all stakeholder groups.
  • Communicate roadmap updates clearly and consistently to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Drive alignment on feature prioritization decisions when competing demands arise across BUs.
  • Own and manage the incoming bug triage process — evaluate, classify, and route defects to the appropriate engineering owners with speed and accuracy.
  • Lead regular triage meetings with engineering leads, QA, and product owners to review open issues and drive prioritization decisions.
  • Track all triaged issues through their full lifecycle — from initial report to root cause analysis, fix, validation, and closure.
  • Escalate high-severity and release-blocking issues to the appropriate stakeholders and ensure timely resolution.
  • Define and enforce triage SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and report on triage health metrics (open/closed rates, aging issues, escape rates).
  • Collaborate with QA and validation teams to ensure bug fixes are properly verified before release sign-off.
  • Plan and coordinate software releases across multiple teams and BUs, ensuring all entry and exit criteria are met.
  • Manage release schedules, release notes, and go/no-go decisions in collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
  • Maintain release dashboards and status reports for executive and stakeholder visibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement of release processes, tooling, and workflows.
