About The Position

As a Technical Publications Specialist at BPMI, you will perform routine business functions to support company operations in areas including, but not limited to the publication and distribution of reactor component technical manuals. This position requires the ability to manage tasks from content creation through the delivery of hard copy and electronic manuals to the fleet. Collaboration with engineers, subcontractors, storage and distribution facilities, Government content owners, shipyard personnel, and the fleet is required. Responsibilities also include development and maintenance of procedures and reports related to technical manual publication, and utilizing industry standard publishing environments and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Professional Writing/Editing, Publishing Studies, English, Communications, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and in teams.
  • Technical writing, editing, and publishing experience within engineering, manufacturing, or software industry.
  • Experience with MS Word and XML source files.
  • Experience working with file configuration software and administrative databases.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and aptitude to understand IT concepts.
  • Ability to craft written communications with clarity and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage project milestones associated with publishing well defined changes to technical manuals, from content inception through final delivery.
  • Manage technical manual production deliverables, schedule, and scope while interfacing with customers, contractors, engineers, and end users.
  • Edit, format, and proofread technical documents for publication in accordance with quality specifications and governing documents.
  • Ensure that information technology designs meet the needs of the end user while employing advancements in technology to produce interactive online technical manuals from Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  • Provide professional writing support, as needed, to BPMI’s internal customers.
