About The Position
This entry-level opportunity is designed to help you build your skills, gain exposure across functions, and grow through hands-on experience, mentorship, and development opportunities. As a Textron employee, you’ll take on meaningful work from day one—contributing to real projects and collaborating with experienced team members across the business. The role involves creating and preparing new or revised aircraft technical manuals for the operation and maintenance of aircraft parts, systems, and assemblies. This requires conducting research independently and collaboratively using engineering database information, engineering drawings, functional tests, commercial and military sources and standards, such as ATA and MIL specifications. The goal is to ensure all data conforms to established design specifications while providing customers with detailed instructions for continued airworthiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation or related field required
- Less than 2 years of professional experience in a relevant role
- An understanding of engineering data, with an ability to research and analyze engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of aircraft operation, aircraft systems, aircraft maintenance practices and aircraft manufacturing.
- Familiar with Military, FAA Regulations, and Aviation Industry (iSpec 2200, S1000D, MilSpecs, etc.) specifications and guidelines, with an emphasis of technical order structure.
- Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
- Textron Aviation Inc. must comply with U.S. export control laws. If a position requires access to information controlled under U.S. regulations applicant must be eligible to meet any requirements to access controlled information.
Nice To Haves
- Relative experience in a technical field is preferred
- A&P (or equivalent military experience) and/or Pilot’s license a plus.
- Experience using SGML/HTML/XML and/or Adobe FrameMaker preferred.
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for completing engineering research, development, and certification requirements for authoring/illustrating new and sustaining model technical publications.
- Utilize Adobe FrameMaker authoring software to produce detailed procedures to support the operation and maintenance of aircraft systems.
- Ensure all data conforms to established design specifications and regulatory requirements as they relate to technical orders.
- Verifies accuracy of content, instructions, and illustrations by collaborating with design engineers, project teams and customer service representatives to participate in certification/verification activities on and off aircraft.
- Collaborate with design engineers, project teams and customer service representatives.
- Validate technical document procedures by conducting virtual (CATIA) and on-aircraft validations of part details, assemblies, and installations.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- May lead special projects.
- A degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
