About The Position

This internship is more than a summer experience — offering mentorship, training, and meaningful, hands-on work that helps you build confidence, develop new skills, and take real steps toward your career goals. Candidates in this role will gain valuable engineering experience in the area of aircraft avionics and electrical systems including requirements capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and qualification/certification. Working with managers and key players in Engineering, Candidates will assist in the development of crucial systems on Textron Aviation Defense and Special Missions products.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
  • Textron Aviation Inc. must comply with U.S. export control laws. If a position requires access to information controlled under U.S. regulations applicant must be eligible to meet any requirements to access controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic test equipment preferred but not required
  • Electronic drafting experience with Siemens Capital preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical systems including but not limited to interface wiring diagrams and harness assemblies using computer based drafting tools (Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics)
  • Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and/or on aircraft
  • Prepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documents
  • Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements
  • Evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system designs
