Technical Project Manager

Onsetto, IncColumbus, OH
$90,000 - $140,000Onsite

About The Position

Onsetto is building a modern fintech company trusted by banks and financial institutions across the country. We move quickly, but we do not confuse speed with chaos. We believe enduring companies are built by people who take ownership, focus on what matters most, measure outcomes clearly, execute with discipline, and lead with integrity. We are looking for a Technical Project Manager who understands the operating rhythm of large financial institutions and can help Onsetto deliver complex technology initiatives with clarity, structure, and confidence. The Technical Project Manager will lead complex, cross-functional projects that involve Onsetto teams, banking clients, technology partners, compliance stakeholders, operations, product, engineering, and executive leadership. This role is ideal for someone who has worked inside or alongside a large bank and understands how banks think, plan, approve, escalate, document, and execute. We are not looking for a loosely structured startup project coordinator. We are looking for a disciplined project leader who can bring order to complexity without slowing the organization down. You will help create and manage project plans customized to how Onsetto operates, while also speaking the language of enterprise banking stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of project management, technical project management, program management, or technology delivery experience.
  • Experience working at or closely with large banks, financial institutions, payment companies, fintech platforms, or regulated enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of how banks operate, including governance, approval processes, risk management, compliance, vendor oversight, implementation planning, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience leading complex technology projects involving multiple teams, systems, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • A PMI, PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification, or equivalent enterprise project management discipline.
  • Experience managing project plans, dependencies, risks, issues, timelines, executive reporting, and cross-functional communication.
  • Comfort working with engineering, product, operations, compliance, information security, implementation, and client-facing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience presenting project status, risks, and decisions to executive audiences.
  • A track record of bringing structure, discipline, and follow-through to complex initiatives.
  • Banking technology projects.
  • Client implementations and enterprise onboarding.
  • API, SFTP, file exchange, data integration, or platform implementation projects.
  • Vendor management and third-party coordination.
  • Regulatory, compliance, security, or operational readiness requirements.
  • Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery models.
  • Project governance and executive reporting.
  • Risk, issue, action item, and dependency management.
  • Production release coordination and implementation planning.
  • Post-launch support, stabilization, and lessons learned reviews.
  • Ownership: Take responsibility for driving outcomes, not just tracking tasks.
  • Focus: Keep teams aligned on the few priorities that matter most.
  • Standards: Create clear expectations for planning, communication, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Execution: Turn strategy into action through disciplined project rhythm.
  • Tracking: Make progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions visible.
  • Tenacity: Stay steady when projects become complex, urgent, or ambiguous.
  • Outcomes: Measure success by delivered results, not meetings held or documents created.
  • Mature, structured, enterprise-fluent project leader who can operate with banks, executives, engineers, and internal delivery teams.
  • Comfortable in complex environments where there are many stakeholders, competing priorities, technical dependencies, and high expectations.
  • Knows how to run a project plan, but also knows when a plan needs to adapt.
  • Can speak confidently with bank stakeholders while also earning trust from internal teams.
  • Brings the discipline of a large financial institution and the flexibility to help Onsetto scale without becoming slow or bureaucratic.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers informal coordination over structured project management.
  • Has only worked in early-stage startup environments without exposure to enterprise clients.
  • Is uncomfortable with banking stakeholders, governance, controls, or documentation.
  • Relies on meetings instead of clear ownership, written plans, and follow-through.
  • Struggles to manage competing priorities across multiple teams.
  • Waits for issues to become urgent before escalating.
  • Thinks project management is only about task tracking rather than driving outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technical and operational projects from planning through execution, launch, and post-implementation review.
  • Build clear project plans, timelines, milestones, dependency maps, RAID logs, status reports, and executive-ready updates.
  • Coordinate work across engineering, product, implementation, support, operations, compliance, security, customer success, and external client teams.
  • Translate ambiguity into structured plans with clear owners, dates, risks, dependencies, and decision points.
  • Partner with bank stakeholders to understand requirements, constraints, approval processes, technology dependencies, and implementation risks.
  • Facilitate project meetings with clear agendas, outcomes, decisions, action items, and follow-through.
  • Identify risks early and escalate issues before they become surprises.
  • Track project health through measurable milestones, visible scoreboards, and disciplined weekly reviews.
  • Ensure internal teams and client stakeholders remain aligned on scope, timeline, priorities, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
  • Support implementation planning, technical integrations, production readiness, client communication, and operational handoff.
  • Partner with leadership to improve Onsetto's project delivery discipline as the company scales.
