About The Position

Anduril is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join its Machine Vision team in Costa Mesa, California. The role coordinates the deployment and sustainment of machine vision tools, processes, equipment, and capabilities across the company. The project manager participates in project scoping, delivery, and impact measurement, engaging with product lines and partnering with the Machine Vision manager to allocate assignments and coordinate cross-functional teams. After installation, the role continues to measure system impact, support modifications, and drive continuous improvement. The position involves evaluating production pain points and inspection burdens, establishing measurable baselines and a defensible return for deployments, and working with machine vision engineers on requirements, acceptance criteria, integration constraints, and test plans. The project manager owns schedules and delivery across multiple concurrent projects, communicates risks and milestones, coordinates installation and acceptance testing, and supports operator training and system sustainment. The role also develops repeatable processes, templates, and metrics that enable the function to support more product lines.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years managing technical projects or programs in a hardware, manufacturing, automation, or equipment-deployment environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering technical projects on schedule across engineering and operations stakeholders, with ownership of scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Experience translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into written requirements, acceptance criteria, and test plans for engineering implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, technicians, operators, and senior leadership.
  • Comfort working on an active factory floor, including occasional off-shift support during installation and buy-off, and traveling between Anduril manufacturing sites as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on exposure to machine vision or industrial automation platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, MVTec Halcon, or OpenCV, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience integrating robotics, PLC and controls systems, fixturing, or automated test equipment.
  • Experience in manufacturing from new product introduction through rate production, particularly on high-mix lines with changing designs.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, measurement system analysis and gage R&R, Cp/Cpk, SPC, and structured root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with MES, ERP, or SCADA and HMI platforms such as Ignition.
  • Familiarity with basic networking architecture, including static IP addressing, VLANs, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Lucid, Airtable, and other project tracking tools.
  • Prior work in an export-controlled, regulated, or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in national security issues and defense technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Engage product lines to assess pain points, failure matrices, inspection needs, and rework burdens.
  • Quantify baselines such as escape rates, inspection hours, and scrap and rework costs to establish measurable deployment objectives and return.
  • Work with machine vision engineers to document solution requirements, acceptance criteria, integration constraints, and test plans.
  • Manage scope and expectations, anticipating scope changes and explaining solution capabilities and limitations as designs and processes evolve.
  • Own delivery dates and schedules across concurrent deployments, accounting for hardware lead times, engineering capacity, and factory downtime windows.
  • Communicate hurdles, risks, and milestones to Automation management and supported product lines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work across manufacturing and quality engineering, controls, IT and infrastructure, facilities, and product lines.
  • Drive installation, acceptance testing, and operator training.
  • Establish documentation, spares, and escalation paths to sustain deployed systems, and feed recurring failures into the team roadmap.
  • Create repeatable intake processes, prioritization criteria, documentation templates, and deployment metrics to scale the function.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as comprehensive and competitive and available at little to no cost to employees.
