About The Position

Amphenol RF, a global leader in coaxial interconnect products, is seeking a Technical Project Manager, Automotive. This role is responsible for leading technical projects from quoting through mass production, coordinating cross-functional teams, and serving as the primary technical contact for Tier 1 and OEM customers. The position drives technical development within the automotive phase-gate process, manages customer relationships, tracks project costs and tooling expenses, and ensures quality through adherence to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA standards. This is a remote position, with candidates in the Detroit, MI area being considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 7 years of project management experience in the automotive supply chain.
  • Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and DFMEA processes.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Project Management software.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Background in RF/coaxial connectors, wiring harnesses, high-speed data transmission is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Award new projects by providing comprehensive technical solutions to customers.
  • Review RFQ packages with cross-functional teams to define achievable specifications for quotation.
  • Work with the Program Manager to review internal costs from a technical perspective.
  • Follow up on open technical tasks and drive for closure during the RFQ stage.
  • Drive flawless launch of awarded projects.
  • Set up and manage internal/external project meetings to drive resolution and closure of open items.
  • Drive cost optimization with the cross-functional team throughout the project phase.
  • Work with the Program Manager to define technical timelines and coordinate with the cross-functional team to meet project timing/milestones.
  • Coordinate and supervise all document submissions to meet phase gate requirements.
  • Identify technical risks and solve roadblocks.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership, guiding design, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Support engineering change requests and customer design updates.
  • Ability to travel as needed (10%) to visit customers, production sites, and suppliers.
