About The Position

We are looking for a Technical Project Management professional to join our Automotive Coatings team in Southfield, Michigan. You will act as the primary technical contact for customers and be responsible for customers’ technical projects including new product development, new project launches, and line trials. As a Technical Project Management - Automotive Coatings professional, you create chemistry by implementing and executing the technology strategy. You will be responsible for technical project management, lab cost tracking and monitoring, and driving continuous efficiency improvement. You will act as the gatekeeper for online trouble shooting requests and ensure all activities meet BASF requirement of EHS, Quality, and compliance requirements. You will manage technical projects related to new product development /APQPs/ raw material replacement according to business strategy. You will collaborate closely with color lab / customization lab / development lab, steering the lab activity cost and coordinating and allocating resources for product development / product launch and assigned projects. You will regularly monitor, track and report project status, ensuring timely alignment with customer requirements regarding performance and quality, timeline, and management of change (MOC) process, etc. You will act as the gatekeeper for APQP process, responsible for complete and successful customer line trials, leading and conducting lesson-learnt discussion for quality and efficiency improvement. You will be responsible for the arrangement of raw materials for Line Trials and ensure all APQP technical documentations are accurately maintained and up to date. You will manage and drive the Implementation of digital tools and maintain and manage technical information including specifications, general line information etc. to ensure accuracy and accessibility. You will monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations. You will be responsible for Color master information logging (inc. ColorID) and management. You will review process and procedures, identifying bottlenecks and conducting continuous improvement and facilitating knowledge sharing. You will support field technical /quality topics at customer plants and be responsible for NCM Management. You will develop deep and trusting customer relationships to obtain access for all growth opportunities and new projects.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree or above in chemical-related major (preferred)
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience in Automotive Coatings industry
  • Have solid knowledge of automotive OEM coatings, familiar with coatings processes and applications
  • Influence others to execute customer requests and meet deadlines
  • Have excellent project management skills
  • Are fluent in English
  • Have solid digital skills including Microsoft and robotic programming (preferred)
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
