Technical Program Manager
About The Position
The Technical Program Manager’s role at Indeed Hiring Lab is to drive cross-functional execution across data science, engineering, economic research, product, and partner teams in order to support Hiring Lab’s public data, research outputs, and products. This is a technical program role that involves managing the internal process required to move complex work from planning through delivery, including aligning priorities, coordinating dependencies, and improving visibility across teams. You will apply strong technical program management skills in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment, contributing to delivery planning, partner alignment, and operational clarity for work tied to data products. This work directly contributes to our mission of helping people get jobs by enabling trusted labor market insights and supporting product experiences that make those insights more useful to job seekers, employers, policymakers, journalists, and internal partners.
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or a minimum of 8 years with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience.
- Agile and adaptable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Proven experience influencing senior management and managing major cross-functional initiatives.
- Skilled in handling multi-year, highly technical programs (e.g., infrastructure migration, platform programs, re-architecture).
- Ability to communicate technical topics to a business audience, and business topics to technical teams.
- Expertise in various product development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams to deliver high-quality products through the software lifecycle, with metrics orientation and a customer-centric mindset.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage moderately complex programs, supporting project delivery in partnership with engineering and product managers; step in to manage projects as needed.
- Collaborate with program managers and cross-functional partners to support roadmap planning and execution.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments to help ensure implementation plans meet partner requirements and priorities.
- Communicate effectively with business partners to share updates, gather input, and support program success.
- Help identify root causes of challenges or opportunities and partner with appropriate teams to support timely solutions.
- Support and guide project teams, sharing best practices to enhance project management capabilities.
- Promote collaboration across cross-functional groups to support alignment and successful program execution.
