This role is for a Technical Program Manager III within Amazon.com Services LLC, focusing on the Peak Capacity Initiative. This high-priority program aims to increase fulfillment capacity during peak business periods, such as the 2026 Peak season. The initiative involves exploring all opportunities to add capacity quickly, including compressing execution schedules of in-flight fulfillment center launches and retrofits, deploying temporary assets, and increasing throughput in the existing fulfillment network. The Technical Program Manager III will establish the program management framework, develop integrated schedules, and coordinate internal and external execution teams, business owners, and operations teams. They will have the technical depth to resolve design, integration, and operational issues for automated material handling equipment, ensuring programs meet schedule, cost, and quality targets. This includes selecting optimal sites, mitigating schedule delays, implementing design change requests, and accommodating regulatory or safety requirement changes. The role involves organizing and leading all stages of program execution, from collecting business requirements and translating them into functional and technical specifications, through design alignment, site selection, construction, firm engineering, and installation of material handling equipment. Additionally, the employee will develop and maintain the program management framework, including goals, tenets, meeting cadence, tracking and reporting standards, and escalation protocols. They will organize project intake, vet opportunities, conduct technical feasibility reviews, and perform financial assessments for region-level capacity proposals for senior leadership. Following project selection, the employee will track progress, resolve technical and organizational issues, and prepare regular SVP-level updates and escalations, addressing issues like resource constraints, conflicting priorities, vendor capacity limitations, and adjustments to Amazon policies. The role also involves coordinating and managing technical project and program development throughout the product development lifecycle, defining projects, collecting business requirements, writing functional and technical specifications, driving product development efforts, managing priorities, creating schedules, identifying and communicating risks, defining mitigation strategies, and facilitating engineering solutions, as well as managing cross-functional teams and/or third-party vendors.
