About The Position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects, planning requirements with internal customers and guiding projects through their full lifecycle. This includes managing schedules, identifying risks, communicating with stakeholders, and explaining analyses and recommendations to executives while discussing technical trade-offs with engineers. You also identify future opportunities, improve processes, and drive the technical direction of programs. The Integrated Capacity Group is responsible for ordering compute and storage quota and operating shared and dedicated Flex resource pools across Technical Infrastructure, Core, Search, Platforms, and Devices. This role owns end-to-end capacity planning, forecasting, and supply fulfillment for dedicated resources. Dedicated security-isolated pools require cluster-level hardware planning across failure domains, machine platforms, data center power constraints, and cross-product area quota conversions. You will build forecasting and supply processes for dedicated pools and specialty dedicated infrastructure, replacing ad hoc spreadsheets with automated demand models. The work includes translating multi-quarter service migrations into physical machine orders and shared-to-dedicated quota exchanges, validating power feasibility, and driving annual planning and budget escalations. Google Cloud provides enterprise-grade solutions and tools to customers in more than 200 countries and territories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with data analysis, business intelligence, or dashboarding tools, such as SQL or metrics platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure capacity planning.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, capacity planning, product area resource management, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and building data models or dashboards to analyze fleet utilization, demand forecasts, or supply-chain bottlenecks.
  • Experience translating software workload requirements, such as compute, memory, local storage, and failure-domain redundancy, into physical infrastructure capacity plans.

Responsibilities

  • Own the capacity forecast for dedicated machine pools across global clusters, modeling organic growth, new cluster turnups, and large inorganic service migrations.
  • Translate logical resource demands into physical dedicated machine supply, ensuring each cell meets hardware platform rules and failure-domain minimums across switches and mzones.
  • Place long-lead orders with power validation and execute faster shared-to-dedicated machine conversions by transferring donor quota and coordinating drains.
  • Lead annual planning, allocation reconciliation, and escalations for specialty dedicated infrastructure orders.
  • Partner with Compute Security Site Reliability Engineers, Cluster Management Technical Infrastructure Resource Managers, and migrating Product Area Resource Managers across Cloud, Core, Search, and Technical Infrastructure to unblock and onboard services without stocking out constrained clusters.
