The Technical Program Manager manages product development programs comprising cross-functional teams. These programs range in scope from field escalations to major product upgrades within a product line. The role executes responsibilities in a matrix type organization. The Technical Program Manager establishes requirements, costs, and schedule targets; plans activities, assembles the team and other critical resources; and manages the program from planning start through production unrestricted release following the PDR guidelines. The role develops, defines and executes program plans and is responsible for meeting the program objectives including performance, cost, schedule, budget targets and deliverables. The Technical Program Manager assesses program risks and drives mitigation activities as part of the program plan, identifies and assures needed resources for projects are committed, and defines and assigns major program roles. The role interfaces with external customers or field-based employees on program matters, as needed. The Technical Program Manager monitors work of program from initiation through release providing support and direction, and escalates issues until resolved or mitigated. The role prepares and presents program executive reviews and PDR risk management reviews. The Technical Program Manager works closely with various departments and organizations as needed, primarily engineering, to ensure the success of the program. The role regularly reports to executive owners and management as requested and through program reviews and PDR risk management reviews. The Technical Program Manager immediately communicates to the accountable executive any issues that threaten achieving performance, cost, or schedule targets and coordinates activities across company organizations utilizing company business processes and logistics. The Technical Program Manager develops innovative solutions with the policies and procedures of the company to ensure program success through the PS&DM Process. Majority of activities and responsibilities involve less complex programs within a single product line.
