Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing technical design, drafting, BIM, VDC, or production teams within construction, fabrication, architecture, engineering, or themed entertainment environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, constructability principles, and project delivery methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Rhino, Revit, and/or similar design and modeling software.
  • Advanced expertise in technical drawing production, constructability review, BIM coordination, 3D modeling, and QA/QC processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical decision-making, resolve complex design challenges, and mitigate project risk.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and design solutions effectively to multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, project teams, and key decision-makers.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting themed entertainment, experiential design, specialty fabrication, hospitality, or complex custom construction projects.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design and production teams.
  • Experience working within fabrication, design-build, or highly collaborative project delivery environments.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the production of complex technical shop drawings generated from specifications, concepts, preliminary sketches, and schematics provided by clients.
  • Develops and maintains schedules and task durations for the design phase of projects.
  • Directs the QA/QC process for all drawings and specifications to ensure overall accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Promotes technical production standards and design studio best practices throughout the design process.
  • Leads team meetings to coordinate design requirements, technical solutions, and project execution strategies.
  • Collaborates with project teams to identify areas of risk and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Oversees revisions of designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during fabrication and construction, resulting in accurate as-built drawings.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines and personnel to provide documentation and drawing releases for submittal reviews and approvals.
  • Contributes to cost projection forecasts.
  • Escalates workforce concerns that may affect project schedules.
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to design and production team members.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to design technology, QA/QC, constructability, and project delivery.
