About The Position

The Technical Production Lead is responsible for leading the hands-on electrical assembly, wiring, integration, and production readiness of solar skid systems. This position provides leadership to production personnel installing solar panels, energy storage system (ESS) equipment, inverters, electrical enclosures, cabling, and associated solar system components. The role ensures products are assembled according to approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, quality requirements, and electrical safety practices while supporting troubleshooting and continuous improvement on the production floor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly, wiring, or integration in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Experience wiring DC and AC electrical systems, including terminations, cable routing, labeling, and torque verification.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of polarity, grounding and bonding, and safe electrical assembly practices.
  • Experience using multimeters and other electrical test equipment for continuity, polarity, and verification checks.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot wiring errors, component failures, and assembly problems.
  • Experience providing technical direction, training, or lead support to production team members.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate production, inspection, and rework records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and production teams.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures, PPE requirements, and electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, work with hand and power tools, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or vocational training in electrical technology, electronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with solar PV modules, battery energy storage systems (ESS), inverters, or related renewable energy equipment.
  • Experience in a lead, team lead, or senior technician role in an electrical or mechanical assembly environment.
  • Experience supporting first-article builds, prototype builds, engineering changes, or new product introduction.
  • Experience with insulation resistance testing and other production electrical verification methods.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, UL, or other applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience contributing to standardized work instructions or process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, defect documentation, and corrective action processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical assembly and integration of Solar Skid products.
  • Perform and oversee wiring of solar panels, ESS equipment, inverters, disconnects, electrical enclosures, and related components.
  • Complete DC and AC electrical connections according to approved drawings and work instructions.
  • Route, terminate, label, and secure electrical wiring and communication cables.
  • Verify connector installation, cable routing, polarity, grounding and bonding, and terminal torque requirements.
  • Support installation and hookup of PV modules, battery/ESS systems, inverter equipment, and supporting electrical components.
  • Confirm components are installed in the correct location and orientation according to released documentation.
  • Provide daily technical direction to electrical and mechanical assembly operators.
  • Coordinate the assembly sequence to maintain safe and efficient production flow.
  • Assign and prioritize technical production activities based on the production schedule.
  • Train production employees on approved wiring, assembly, installation, and inspection methods.
  • Serve as the primary production-floor resource for technical questions related to Solar Skid assembly.
  • Identify constraints and escalate drawing, material, design, or process issues that could affect schedule or quality.
  • Perform visual and electrical inspections before system completion.
  • Verify wiring against electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and approved drawings.
  • Support continuity, polarity, grounding, insulation, and other required production verification activities.
  • Troubleshoot incorrect wiring, damaged components, communication issues, and assembly problems.
  • Work with Engineering and Quality to determine appropriate disposition when production issues are identified.
  • Document defects, rework, and corrective actions according to company procedures.
  • Ensure production teams work from the latest released drawings, bills of material (BOMs), work instructions, and specifications.
  • Verify critical assembly and electrical checkpoints are completed before the product advances to the next production stage.
  • Support first-article builds, prototype builds, engineering changes, and new product introduction activities.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering on manufacturability and recurring production issues.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and rework records.
  • Support the development and improvement of standardized work instructions.
  • Promote safe electrical and mechanical assembly practices.
  • Ensure required personal protective equipment and electrical safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain an organized and safe production work area.
  • Stop and escalate work when an unsafe electrical, mechanical, or production condition is identified.
