About The Position

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead in-house product development, partnering with AI engineer contractors to build and iterate on products. This role involves working across a portfolio of vertical businesses, directly engaging with contractors and teams, and shifting between projects based on evolving priorities. The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for both technical product strategy and hands-on execution, including building prototypes, MVPs, internal tools, and integrations, particularly in the early stages of projects before dedicated engineering teams are in place. As the team expands, this role is expected to transition into managing other builders, requiring someone who can excel as a senior individual contributor now and grow into a people leadership role as the portfolio scales. Reporting to the CEO and Head of Product, the individual will evaluate priorities, identify tradeoffs, and provide recommendations on product direction, technical decisions, and resource allocation across multiple initiatives. While the CEO has final decision-making authority, this role provides the necessary analysis, recommendations, and operational leadership to ensure projects move forward efficiently. The role offers the opportunity to shape the product function by hiring, mentoring, and leading additional builders as the organization grows.

Requirements

6+ years in product management or a hybrid product/engineering role.
Direct, hands-on building experience (not purely spec-writing), including scripting, front-end/back-end development, no-code platforms, or technical prototyping.
Comfort working on multiple unrelated projects simultaneously, often with incomplete information and no dedicated team.
Strong technical fluency: ability to read code, understand system architecture, and make informed build/buy/integrate decisions.
Experience taking a product from zero to a working first version, ideally in an early-stage or startup environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience at a startup studio, venture builder, holding company, or multi-brand/multi-subsidiary organization.
Familiarity with traditional engineering and AI no-code/low-code tools.
Experience standing up projects that were later handed off to dedicated engineering teams.
Background in a technical discipline (CS, engineering) or equivalent self-taught technical depth.
Exposure to robotics; IoT is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

Partner with business unit leads to define product direction, technical scope, and priorities for ventures, including those still seeking product-market fit.
Translate ambiguous, early-stage ideas into clear requirements, PRDs, and success metrics.
Prioritize building initiatives considering shared resources and competing project demands.
Support the creation of technical narratives for presentations and funding rounds.
Personally build MVPs, prototypes, and early product versions, which may involve coding, configuring no-code/low-code tools, or setting up integrations.
Ship quickly, validate with users or data, and iterate, prioritizing working software over polished documentation.
Develop internal tools and lightweight automation to enhance the productivity of small or nascent teams.
Manage context-switching between 2-4 active projects simultaneously without losing momentum.
Standardize essential processes (documentation, handoff notes, basic architecture decisions) to ensure project continuity when rotating off.
Identify patterns and reusable components across business units to avoid redundant development.
Communicate clearly and frequently with non-technical stakeholders.
Triage tasks and decide on weekly priorities given limited time and potentially no dedicated project teams.
Push back against scope creep and unrealistic timelines when project ambitions exceed available resources.
Recognize when projects require additional resources and proactively recommend solutions.
Validate the work and technical quality of offshore teams.
As the portfolio scales, help define and build out the product function, potentially hiring and managing additional Technical PMs or product engineers.
