CompassX Group•Irvine, CA
•$130,000 - $180,000

About The Position

CompassX is seeking a senior, hands-on individual contributor Technical Product Manager for a high-visibility client engagement. The role works alongside the client’s Data Management team to understand and improve how product and data move from a marketing request through to a live in-person experience. It combines GenAI development, product management, workflow redesign, data modeling, and practical implementation. The successful candidate will identify valuable opportunities, build and ship tools, and help ensure solutions are adopted and maintainable. The position involves understanding and redesigning workflows, choosing whether each problem calls for a process change, automation, integration, application, or AI, and independently building lightweight production applications, APIs, integrations, and automations. The role also extends an existing AI-based product authoring capability, develops practical AI tools with appropriate data-quality controls and human review, helps define product and experience data models, and replaces spreadsheet-based tracking with structured, queryable systems accessible to downstream platforms through APIs. The role partners with client engineers on larger builds and prepares work for handover. The opportunity is described as most likely a 1099 hourly contract engagement, though compensation and engagement type will be finalized based on role and business factors. The stated compensation range is $130,000–$180,000 a year; the posting notes compensation may be structured as salary with bonus eligibility or as an hourly contract engagement.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience across software development, solutions architecture, technical product management, or a similar field, with a record of personally building and shipping tools.
  • Hands-on experience building applications, APIs, and integrations, with the ability to independently build robust solutions.
  • Practical experience developing LLM applications or agentic workflows.
  • Strong data modeling and SQL skills.
  • Experience working directly with end users to map processes and drive adoption across teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting or client-facing experience.
  • Experience with product, menu, catalog, or master data (PIM/MDM).

Responsibilities

  • Work with Data Managers to understand workflows across intake, product authoring, handoffs, validation, and publishing.
  • Map workflows, systems, and dependencies; establish baseline measures such as time per task; and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Challenge legacy processes and propose redesigned workflows, working with stakeholders to drive adoption.
  • Determine whether problems are best addressed through process changes, automation, integrations, purpose-built applications, or AI, and build the chosen solutions.
  • Independently build lightweight production applications, APIs, integrations, and automation using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering discipline.
  • Put prototypes in users’ hands quickly, gather feedback, and improve them sprint by sprint.
  • Partner with client engineers on larger builds while remaining accountable for product, architecture, and outcomes.
  • Extend an existing AI-based product authoring capability to support additional product types.
  • Build AI tools such as authoring assistants, validation and anomaly checks, and workflow agents, with controls for data quality and human review.
  • Recognize when deterministic solutions or process improvements are preferable to AI.
