About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in technical process engineering, focusing on emulsion polymerization. The intern will support advanced instrumentation, maintain databases, conduct laboratory experiments, monitor plant production, and contribute to process optimization. This role involves data analysis, trend identification, and proactive suggestion of improvements to ensure optimal process performance.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FT-IR, DTA, DSC, TGA, GC, and UV spectroscopy.
  • Knowledge of emulsion polymerization processes.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Understanding of statistical process control.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in emulsion polymerization by learning and utilizing advanced instrumentation such as FT-IR, DTA, DSC, TGA, GC, and UV spectroscopy.
  • Maintain the GC database for all grades in MA-2 and MA-3, covering rubber final, batch final latex, and dry powder, with data collected every 10th lot ending in zero.
  • Conduct lab graft polymerization in 8L reactors safely to support the optimization of MBS Grades.
  • Develop an extensive database to characterize latex properties (Maron stability, pH, latex viscosity) and powder properties (VM, ASG, powderD50).
  • Monitor daily plant production by maintaining the production database, tracking process abnormalities, and regularly analyzing data to ensure optimal process performance.
  • Identify trends and deviations in production and proactively suggest improvements based on data analysis.
  • Ensure material additions for all grades are up-to-date, including calculations of %SC, conversion, and total batch size.
  • Attend daily production meetings and weekly grade separation meetings and follow up on action items.
