About The Position

As an intern with Textron, you’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You’ll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success. This role investigates operational challenges identified through Textron Aviation service centers, customer feedback, technical committees, and field data, and develops and implements creative, innovative solutions to those challenges. The intern will conduct structural testing on repaired components without prior substantiating data to validate integrity and compliance. They will maintain airworthiness of the fleet by ensuring airworthiness limitations manuals and NDT procedures defining inspections are up to date. The role also provides technical assistance and guidance through repairs and flight extensions to service centers and operators.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Management, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work in a team environment to meet department level objectives
  • Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.

Responsibilities

  • Research field data as necessary to understand customer pain points in order to develop improvements.
  • Prepare structural test plan reports and results reports for repair and innovation testing.
  • Work with multi-disciplined teams to develop innovative solutions to customer pain points including engineering, supply chain, technical publications, maintenance engineering and manufacturing.
  • Provide Team Structures customer support group assistance and consultation to meet global customer demand for repair engineering on Textron Aviation products.
  • Work closely with structural engineering repair team.
  • Write Certification Plans to establish required revisions to ALM/ALS including repair part numbers, revised inspections and new part numbers and coordinate with FAA.
  • Make testing and repair drawings and standard repairs for innovation projects using Catia and Enovia.
  • Work with engineering project teams and SERT to ensure correct incorporation.
  • Perform structural analysis when necessary to confirm continued airworthiness of Textron Aviation Aircraft in support of repairs, mods, flight extensions, MM inspection changes and ALM/ALS inspection changes.
  • Observe and assist in monitoring structural repair trends.
  • Support the team and assist with the coordination of required parts for testing.
