About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking a Technical Procedure Writer, Level IV, to join their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a government contractor, and will take day-to-day direction from Y-12 staff. AIS provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 15-20 years of experience in technical disciplines, plus experience writing technical procedures in a commercial or Weapons Complex facility.
  • Alternatively, a technical background with 18 years of experience in writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex facility may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures.
  • Ability to determine technical requirements by examining DOE Orders and Standards; 60-101PD, Quality Assurance Program Description, and Y60-015, Integrated Quality Manual; Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documents; and Hazard Analysis documents.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
  • Job-related pre-placement medical examinations may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • If a clearance is required, the position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position requiring participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures for tasks related to dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.
  • Comply with Y15-232, Technical Procedure Process, and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT).
  • Occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures and comply with Y15-235, Administrative Management Requirements Process, and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT).
  • Develop Enterprise procedures applicable to Y-12 and Pantex.
  • Prepare and coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution.
  • Implement hazard controls.
  • Capture quality and performance data.
  • Ensure procedures can be performed as written through verification and validation.
