About The Position

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is seeking a highly motivated Technical Principal Program/Product Manager to join their Software and Firmware TPM team. This role is crucial for powering Microsoft Azure's vision and ensuring a secure, reliable, and trusted cloud experience. The ideal candidate will define and develop tactical and strategic solutions for Azure infrastructure, communicate requirements to external partners, and collaborate with internal Azure Engineering teams. A strong understanding of customer needs, software development lifecycle, firmware and hardware integration, and a passion for creating exceptional products are essential. The role involves providing technical direction to firmware and software engineering teams, ensuring highly available and secure solutions for AI datacenter servers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and communicate solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Deep experience with the software development lifecycle or in cloud datacenter hardware lifecycle.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, prioritize multiple strategic and tactical options, and drive issues to closure with a high bar on quality.
  • Technical savvy. Know how to solve the hard problems, and demonstrate ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skill and interpersonal skill.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 10+ years of experience as a technical Program Manager or in a technical role with systems experience.
  • Knowledge of building low-level SW to run on HW e.g., Firmware, UEFI, BMC, BSP… etc.
  • Experience in technical program management of complex cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience working with software code in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.
  • 10+ years of experience working in software development.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering team and hardware teams to ensure software and firmware plans are well defined and incorporated.
  • Collaborate with the HW New Program Initiative team on new HW SKUs, ensuring SW & FW development, validation, and rollout plans are comprehensive.
  • Be responsible for the execution of cutting-edge AI and next-generation computing SKUs in close collaboration with engineering counterparts.
  • Define and develop vendor-agnostic requirements for hardware solutions powering Azure through engagement with internal/external partners.
  • Partner with other TPMs, Architects, and engineering managers to drive standardization of requirements and processes within Microsoft and across the silicon industry.
  • Drive development teams to deliver features using agile execution across sprints, backlogs, and milestones, leading continuous planning efforts.
  • Oversee the different SW & FW team plans and deliverables.
  • Develop requirement specs and PM functional specs for new features.
  • Manage semester planning, engineering sprints, and backlogs with Engineering teams.
  • Work with external and internal partners (Silicon Vendors, ODM, OEM, Hardware, Azure Service teams, etc.) to drive Microsoft Azure requirements and coordinate development efforts.
  • Bring systematic SW/FW development practices to the team.
  • Communicate with multiple internal/external partner teams globally to drive programs.
