About The Position

The Quantum and Nanotechnologies (QN) Research Centre is looking for a technical officer to assist its research programs in advanced photonic and quantum technologies. The successful candidate will share the organization’s core values of integrity, excellence, respect, and creativity, and will contribute to supporting its research facilities for strengthening the NRC’s capabilities in III–V semiconductor technologies. This position will focus on providing technical support for research facilities on Surface and Interfaces analysis within the Epitaxy Team. The incumbent will be involved in hands-on technical work and problem solving activities while maintaining high standards of quality to support and troubleshoot various analysis high vaccum tools.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a technical, engineering, or scientific discipline related to the position.
  • Hands-on experience (minimum 3 years) with secondary ion mass spectrometry analysis of III-V semiconductors.
  • Significant experience in handling vacuum systems used for semiconductor materials’ surface and interface analysis.
  • Significant experience with the safe operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high vacuum equipment.
  • Reliability Status (verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required).
  • English language proficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary ion mass spectrometry technique.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science and physics engineering of III-V semiconductors.
  • Advanced knowledge of safe practices for working with electrical, mechanical, and vacuum systems.
  • Ability to accurately interpret technical results and report making for internal and external users / clients.
