About The Position

Trail of Bits is seeking a Technical Marketing Manager to oversee the day-to-day marketing operations for their AppSec, AI/ML Security, and Research & Engineering practices. This role is designed to work collaboratively with an existing TMM peer, forming the core of Trail of Bits' marketing execution. The position involves close collaboration with engineering directors and the go-to-market team to translate security research into effective marketing materials such as blog posts, social media campaigns, event presentations, case studies, and co-marketing initiatives with clients. A key aspect of this role is understanding the security research community, their preferred platforms, and possessing sufficient technical fluency to ensure marketing content is credible and accurate. This is a hands-on position requiring ownership of social media, events, demand generation, and content production, with a need to support the Technical Editing team and contribute to writing and production when necessary. The role also includes briefing speakers, managing co-marketing efforts, and ensuring a strategic plan for content distribution. Regular reporting to the Head of GTM is expected, focusing on data, priorities, and blockers. The company provides a supportive tech stack, including a Macbook and Claude Code access.

Requirements

  • Marketing experience in AppSec, AI/ML Security, or Research & Engineering, with a strong understanding of the landscape, key players, and technical conversations.
  • Active public presence in security communities, with demonstrated experience engaging on X, LinkedIn, or Bluesky in relevant technical discussions.
  • Experience writing security-focused content for technical audiences, including blogs and vulnerability research writeups.
  • Experience running demand generation campaigns that produced measurable pipeline outcomes at a security, blockchain, or developer tools company.
  • Experience managing social media as a primary channel in AppSec, AI/ML security, or developer security communities, with responsibility for cadence, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Technical fluency with GitHub, markdown, and tools like Claude Code.
  • Experience setting up dashboards and reporting cadences that connect security marketing activity to pipeline outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot or similar marketing automation platforms, preferably in a B2B security or devtools context.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate security content production, research, and campaign execution.

  • Experience with NPS programs or customer feedback loops that inform marketing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Track engineering output, tool releases, research papers, conference talks, and milestones to ensure each receives appropriate marketing coverage (blog posts, social threads, newsletter mentions).
  • Develop marketing content for previously released tools and research that have not yet been publicly documented.
  • Create case studies, briefs, blog drafts, and other marketing assets suitable for both technical and business audiences, including writing original content.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Editing team on content pipelines, particularly for report publications and blog production, and provide additional writing support.
  • Manage the content calendar across all practices, coordinating publishing schedules for consistent coverage.
  • Own social media presence across X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, maintaining a consistent publishing cadence, engaging with the community, and growing the audience.
  • Manage Trail of Bits' participation in industry events and conferences, including pre-event promotion, on-site coordination, and post-event lead capture and content amplification.
  • Brief and prepare engineers and leadership for external speaking engagements.
  • Plan and execute multi-channel demand generation campaigns (social, email, webinars, conference activations) to drive pipeline.
  • Collect and package customer proof points such as testimonials, client logos, and case studies to support sales efforts and build credibility.
  • Provide sales enablement support, including collateral, competitive intelligence, and prospect research.
  • Track marketing performance against existing baselines, create reporting cadences to identify effective strategies, and build dashboards connecting marketing activities to pipeline and revenue.
  • Own marketing attribution, linking campaign spend and activities to sourced and influenced pipeline.
