About The Position

As our Technical Manager on our Site/Land Development team in South Jordan, UT, you will serve as the lead technical resource for transportation projects, with a primary focus on supporting the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). In this role, you will provide technical leadership throughout project delivery, ensuring design excellence, quality, and compliance while collaborating closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams. This position is ideal for an experienced transportation engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, guiding project teams, and delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 20+ years of progressive civil engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transportation and/or site/land development engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (MicroStation platform).
  • Strong knowledge of UDOT standards, procedures, and project delivery.
  • Experience leading technical design efforts and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as a Technical Manager or Design Manager on UDOT projects.
  • Experience with agency coordination, permitting, and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership for transportation and site/land development projects, ensuring quality, coordination, and successful project delivery.
  • Lead the technical execution and quality management of complex UDOT transportation and site/land development projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, profiles, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates using Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads Designer and industry best practices.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with UDOT standards, project requirements, and Psomas quality expectations.
  • Represent Psomas in technical coordination with UDOT, public agencies, consultants, and contractors throughout project delivery.
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, scope development, and technical coordination to support successful project execution.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams while collaborating with project managers to resolve engineering challenges.
  • Contribute technical expertise to proposals, interviews, pursuit planning, and client presentations.
  • Assist with technical proposals, client presentations, interviews, and pursuit planning.
