About The Position

Gerdau is a major steel manufacturing company operating in 10 countries with over 30,000 employees. The North American business divisions produce long and special steel products for various markets. Gerdau utilizes efficient and clean production practices, including electric arc furnace (EAF) technology, making their steel a green choice. The G.Future program is designed to develop future leaders for the company through an intensive 18-month program that includes on-the-job learning, classroom training, coaching, and mentorship. Participants will solve problems, manage strategic implementation for business goals, visit customers and suppliers, gain industry acumen by working with all levels of Gerdau North America, and travel throughout the US and Canada. The program aims to grow managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills, with participants working with software such as AutoCad, AutoCad Inventor, SAP, PLEX, and Excel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable degree.
  • Recent college graduate within the last two years - recently completed or be in the process of completing degree before program starts.
  • Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5, preferred GPA 3.0 or higher).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment.
  • Willing to travel to various locations within the United States during the length of the program.

  • Preference for those with a degree-related internship experience.
  • Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities.
  • A high learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously.

Responsibilities

  • Solving large- and small-scale problems, such as creating Mechanical components/assembly drawing(s), proposing business methods to optimize product output and redirect process prioritization to improve current production standards.
  • Working as a leader managing the strategic implementation for overall business goals.
  • Visiting customers and suppliers to gain in-depth knowledge of the business from beginning to end.
  • Gaining a holistic view and acumen of the industry by working with each level of Gerdau North America, as well as travel to various destinations throughout the US and Canada.
  • Furthering development by interacting with other G.Futures from across North America while tackling some of the organization’s biggest challenges.
  • Growing a set of managerial, interpersonal, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Working with software such as AutoCad, AutoCad Inventor, SAP, PLEX and excel.
