About The Position

Applied Intuition, Inc. is seeking a Technical Lead to provide technical leadership, end-to-end system ownership, and architectural direction for their ML-first behavior prediction and planning team. This role involves leading the development of ML-first behavior modules for predicting road user trajectories and interactions, guiding architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers. The position requires close collaboration with perception leadership on training data, planning leadership on ML-based planner development, and research teams on state-of-the-art architectures. The impact of this role spans diverse domains including passenger vehicles, trucking, and mining. The Technical Lead will also foster engineering excellence, mentor team members, and shape best practices in a dynamic, customer-focused environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for individuals eager to contribute to making autonomous systems a reality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership, including leading complex projects, mentoring engineers, and influencing architectural direction.
  • Proven track record of shipping production ML software in complex, real-world environments.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following subdomains: modeling, input pipelines, evaluation, deployment, or model optimization.
  • Experience with the end-to-end development cycle of deep learning models.
  • 3+ years of experience building production software using modern software practices.
  • Fluency in Python with intermediate experience in C++.

Nice To Haves

  • Peer-reviewed research at machine learning conferences like NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ECCV, IROS, or ICRA.
  • Experience with driver assistance or autonomous driving systems.
  • Experience in evaluating and improving system-in-the-loop model performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical roadmap, system architecture, and execution for ML algorithms that generate driving trajectories for autonomous vehicles and other road users.
  • Drive architecture reviews and leverage established products at Applied Intuition to build scalable software and infrastructure foundations for behavior ML development.
  • Mentor and guide engineers while collaborating with cross-functional leadership, perception, planning, and research teams on state-of-the-art models and techniques.
