About The Position

Fetch is investing in its web presence as a core growth channel. Our marketing websites (fetch.com, business.fetch.com, and our blogs) are the front door for organic acquisition, B2B lead generation, and the next phase of how new users discover and sign up for Fetch. Today, that surface is constrained by a legacy CMS that the marketing team has outgrown, with no internal engineering owner. We're changing that. We are hiring a Technical Lead Manager to start and lead a new team within Growth Engineering, responsible for replatforming Fetch's marketing web stack onto a modern foundation and turning it into a fast, self-serve publishing platform for our marketing teams. This is a hands-on, staff-level technical role with people leadership responsibilities. As the founding TLM, you will set the technical vision, hire the initial engineers, and partner directly with Growth Marketing as your day-to-day product partner. You'll own the architectural direction for the migration, write code yourself, and grow the team as the work expands. As the team scales over time, the leadership shape of the role may evolve, but the technical leadership at the heart of it will remain. This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US offices or remotely in the United States.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing or technically leading software engineers
  • Strong full-stack engineering background, with significant experience on user-facing web platforms (modern React-based frameworks, TypeScript, headless or traditional CMS architectures, CDN and caching, deployment pipelines)
  • A track record of being hands-on as a technical leader. You lead by example in the codebase
  • Experience delivering customer-facing products at scale
  • Ability to evaluate system design, architecture, and technical tradeoffs
  • Proven track record of leading teams to ship complex projects
  • Experience partnering directly with non-engineering stakeholders, particularly marketing, product, or design, and translating their needs into clear technical plans
  • Comfort with ambiguity. You're energized by inheriting a stack with real constraints and shaping the path forward, not executing a pre-defined plan
  • Commitment to engineering best practices, including testing, observability, and incident management
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to support engineering productivity, code quality, and team efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience leading a CMS migration or web replatforming effort
  • Background building or owning marketing websites at scale (strong product-engineering backgrounds also qualify)
  • Familiarity with the SEO, Core Web Vitals, and analytics requirements that come with marketing-site work
  • Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, or similar) and modern React-based frameworks (Next.js or similar)
  • Experience hiring and growing a team from the ground up
  • Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing tooling

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical vision for Fetch's marketing web platform, including stack, architecture, migration sequencing, and long-term roadmap
  • Lead the migration from our legacy CMS onto a modern platform that enables marketers to publish independently, without an engineering ticket for every change
  • Partner closely and continuously with Growth Marketing as your primary product partner, translating their goals into technical roadmaps and shipping the work that unlocks acquisition, lead generation, and conversion
  • Stay hands-on in the codebase. Write code, review PRs, and own meaningful parts of the platform yourself, especially in the early days
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of software engineers across multiple experience levels, and participate actively in hiring the initial team
  • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support career growth and performance management
  • Own platform health end to end: uptime, performance, Core Web Vitals, deployment pipeline, caching, monitoring, and incident response
  • Collaborate with Product, DevOps, B2B, and Data teams on integrations, analytics, tracking, and shared infrastructure
  • Balance delivery velocity with long-term technical health and operational excellence
  • Communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders and leadership
  • Foster a culture of ownership, quality, and accountability
  • Support engineers in using AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code to improve development velocity, documentation, and code quality
  • As the platform matures, help shape the future scope of this team, including web-based account creation and broader funnel optimization work

Benefits

  • competitive compensation packages including base, equity, and benefits
