About The Position

Guidehouse is hiring a Technical Lead, Full-Stack Engineering for its Chief Transformation Officer (CXO) organization. The role supports AI Transformation, Solution Studio, and other strategic CXO initiatives. It combines hands-on engineering—writing and shipping production code—with technical leadership for a workstream or small team. The engineer will build, test, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable enterprise applications, and use AI coding assistants and agents throughout development with human review and verification. Generative AI capabilities should be incorporated when they add value. Working closely with Technical Product Managers and architects, the Technical Lead will deliver reliable, maintainable applications, contribute to technical design, and help shape requirements and engineering plans. The role also guides other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and day-to-day technical support. Solutions may range from production-scale applications to prototypes and MVPs, depending on the assignment. The position involves developing end-to-end applications, including front-end experiences, backend services and APIs, data persistence, enterprise integrations, and authentication and authorization. It also includes cloud-native deployment and operations, production troubleshooting, documentation, operational handoff, and applying enterprise security, privacy, and responsible AI controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or four additional years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least six years of software engineering experience, including delivery of production full-stack applications, deployment and operation of cloud-native services, and guidance of other engineers’ technical work.
  • Advanced hands-on proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern front-end framework, plus Python or another backend language.
  • Strong experience with APIs, databases, authentication, and enterprise integrations.
  • Practical experience using AI coding assistants or agents, including providing clear instructions, critically reviewing generated code, validating behavior through tests and debugging, and sharing effective practices.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience integrating generative AI or agent capabilities into applications, including designing and running evaluations and understanding their limitations.
  • Experience with a major cloud platform, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure as code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Experience serving as technical lead for a workstream or small team, including leading code reviews, contributing to design decisions, and guiding other engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical concepts and tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical audiences, demonstrating working solutions, asking clarifying questions, communicating progress and risks, and engaging professionally in stakeholder and client discussions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in client-facing solution engineering or consulting, or in enterprise transformation within a matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with workflows and regulatory requirements in Guidehouse industries: Healthcare; Financial Services; Communities, Energy & Infrastructure; and Defense & Security.
  • Experience delivering production-scale solutions with demanding performance or reliability requirements, or developing reusable components and AI-assisted delivery practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to engineering standards, communities of practice, or technical interviewing.
  • Relevant cloud, DevOps, or AI certifications.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable full-stack enterprise applications, and lead technical delivery of a workstream or component.
  • Deliver production-scale solutions, prototypes, and MVPs as required by the assignment.
  • Build end-to-end applications encompassing front-end experiences, backend services and APIs, data persistence, enterprise integrations, and authentication and authorization.
  • Contribute to technical design and propose solutions to complex problems.
  • Use AI coding assistants and agents for implementation, refactoring, testing, debugging, and documentation; review and validate generated code and outputs for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Help the team adopt effective AI-assisted development practices.
  • Engineer for performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability; lead workstream code reviews and validate behavior through automated tests and representative workloads.
  • Integrate generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agents, and tool calling when fit for purpose, and evaluate solution quality, latency, cost, and security before scaling.
  • Collaborate with Technical Product Managers and architects to shape requirements, break down and estimate engineering work, and communicate technical tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Deploy and operate cloud-native solutions using automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability; implement enterprise security, privacy, and responsible AI controls.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot deployed solutions, maintain technical documentation and support runbooks, and lead production readiness and handoff with IT and business owners for the workstream.
  • Guide the technical approach for a workstream or small team, unblock engineers, and keep work aligned with design and quality standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance.
  • Contribute reusable components and shared engineering practices across CXO teams.
