About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled Technical Inside Sales Representative to join their team. This role involves completing hands-on training, developing deep product expertise, and providing technical support to customers. The representative will handle inbound sales inquiries, proactively engage existing customers to generate new sales opportunities, and process orders and quotes for stock items and custom components. Collaboration with Outside Sales representatives and analysis of sales data are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong mechanical aptitude or technical inclination
  • Ability to understand and work with complex technical or mechanical specifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role, ideally within a manufacturing or technical environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Flexibility in adjusting to new processes, technologies, and work environments
  • Clear and effective communication skills to understand customer needs and provide high-quality service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage the sales process efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple orders and quotes simultaneously while maintaining efficiency and organization
  • Ability to analyze data to understand market trends and find opportunities for business growth
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Diligence and reliability, performing duties with responsibility, dependability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and on a computer
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on training, including time in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's products and services.
  • Provide technical information and guidance to customers to help them select appropriate products.
  • Respond to inbound sales calls from existing customers regarding product details, pricing, order status, or delivery confirmation.
  • Proactively engage existing customers via phone, email, and other channels to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Enter orders and quotes for stock items and custom-manufactured components and systems.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales representatives on open opportunities within their sales territories.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify potential areas for growth and improvement.
