About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled Technical Inside Sales Representative to join their team. This role involves completing hands-on training, developing deep product expertise, and providing technical support to customers. The representative will handle inbound sales inquiries, proactively engage existing customers to generate new sales opportunities, and process orders and quotes. Collaboration with Outside Sales representatives and analysis of sales data are also key components of the position. The company emphasizes producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude or technical inclination.
  • Ability to understand and work with complex technical or mechanical specifications.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role, preferably in a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Adaptability to new processes, technologies, and work environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, understanding their needs and providing high-quality service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage the sales process efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple orders and quotes simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify growth opportunities.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and on a computer.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft AX is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on training, including time in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's products and services.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers.
  • Respond to inbound sales inquiries regarding product details, pricing, order status, or delivery confirmation.
  • Proactively engage existing customers via phone, email, and other channels to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Process orders and quotes for stock items and custom-manufactured components and systems.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales representatives on open opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities.
  • Foster collaboration through strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exhibit diligence and reliability in performing duties.
