About The Position

Apella is seeking a Technical Implementation Manager to support the design, configuration, validation, and ongoing monitoring of customer data interfaces. This role involves working closely with hospital partners to ensure accurate and timely data transfer from their EMR systems, such as Epic and Cerner/Oracle Health. The position is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring daily communication with customer teams, execution of testing and validation for new go-lives, monitoring of production interfaces, and development of scalable processes and documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with healthcare data, adept at asking pertinent questions, and capable of driving implementation tasks to completion.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in healthcare technology, EHR integrations, or a related implementation/technical operations role.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records, with experience with Epic (e.g., OpTime, Radiant, Cupid, Bridges, Reporting Workbench, Clarity) and/or Cerner/Oracle Health strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 (SIU, ADT) and familiarity with interface engines.
  • Comfort working with data, including the ability to compare, validate, and troubleshoot scheduling data across systems using tools like Excel, Google Sheets, or SQL-based reporting tools (e.g., Metabase, Hex).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer implementations simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset with a bias toward proactive problem-solving.
  • Experience creating and maintaining test plans, project plans, or technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working at Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, or a healthcare technology company in an implementation, integration, or technical analyst capacity.
  • Familiarity with surgical scheduling workflows and perioperative data.
  • Experience with SSO configuration and testing.
  • Background in reporting tools and data exports (e.g., Epic Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Crystal Reports).

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer-facing implementation tasks, serving as the primary point of contact for customers during data interface setup and coordinating with their EHR/Optime, interface, and reporting teams to meet project milestones.
  • Execute data validation and testing by building and running test scripts for HL7 interfaces (SIU messages), report-based data feeds (e.g., Epic Reporting Workbench, Clarity scheduled/logged case reports, block schedule and release files), and other data sources.
  • Monitor production interfaces for variances (e.g., new surgical service lines, unmapped procedures) and outages (e.g., missing fields, dropped messages), proactively escalating and resolving issues.
  • Support new customer onboarding by coordinating the technical data integration workstream, including staging environment setup, endpoint testing, and production go-live QA.
  • Maintain customer-specific data configuration documents, test plans, runbooks, and interface specifications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to address data availability questions, communicate limitations, and provide implementation insights for the product roadmap.
  • Assist in evaluating alternative data sources such as ADT feeds, orders interfaces, and Epic APIs as Apella expands its data platform.

  • Competitive salary and stock options
  • Flexible vacation policy and a culture that values time for rest and recharging
  • Remote-first work environment with unique virtual and in-person events to foster team connection
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 16 weeks of parental leave for all parents
