About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our organization. This is a full-time position within the MB-DMI (Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing & Inspection) team, part of the Quality organization. MB-DMI is a strategic transformation initiative focused on implementing Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) processes and technologies by integrating 3D model-based definition, digital manufacturing, and automated inspection into product definition, manufacturing, and quality assurance activities. This transformation leverages leading-edge technologies such as high-precision Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), 3D scanning, computed tomography (CT), and other advanced metrology solutions. The initiative aims to significantly improve quality, delivery performance, manufacturing costs, and overall engine performance. The successful candidate will serve as the team's metrology subject matter expert (SME), providing technical leadership in the development, validation, and approval of advanced metrology applications. In addition, they will support the industrialization of new inspection processes and technologies, ensuring they achieve the maturity required for production deployment. The successful candidate will work within a highly collaborative team that is passionate about innovation, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in industrial metrology, quality, or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of metrology principles, including: Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R), Measurement uncertainty analysis, Correlation studies between measurement systems, Measurement system capability analysis
  • Significant experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), 3D scanning technologies, and Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and its application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing, validating, or industrializing new manufacturing or inspection methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges using a structured, data-driven approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and influence technical stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication, technical presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate metrology principles into robust, scalable production solutions.
  • Passion for innovation and the ability to thrive in an environment where technologies are continuously evolving and maturing.
  • Working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

  • Experience serving as a technical expert or subject matter expert within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supporting organizational change and the deployment of new technologies into production.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish technical standards, develop best practices, and mentor technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Metrology Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the MB-DMI team and provide technical leadership in the development of advanced measurement solutions.
  • Define metrology validation strategies for new technologies, inspection methods, and applications developed by the team.
  • Lead the development, validation, approval, and industrialization of advanced metrology solutions to ensure they are robust and ready for production deployment.
  • Plan, execute, and interpret correlation studies, Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R), Gauge Studies (GSTI), measurement uncertainty analyses, and qualification and certification activities for measurement systems.
  • Establish metrology performance criteria and recommend improvements to ensure reliable and capable measurement systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, MTE, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to develop and deploy new technologies.
  • Support the development of Model-Based Definition (MBD) inspection methods and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Contribute to manufacturing and inspection process validation strategies, including process mapping and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend new approaches that improve manufacturing and inspection performance.
