We value, accept, and respect everyone for who they are, enabling personal and professional growth. Our mission is to prevent, stop, and cure diseases, ensuring universal access to healthcare for present and future generations. Join Roche, where every voice matters. We are seeking a highly skilled eDiscovery Specialist to join our Roche Digital Technology (RDT) Group Functions. In this critical role, you will act as a technical bridge between RDT and the Business Product Owners across Legal, Compliance, and Investigations. Your primary focus will be supporting the business throughout the full spectrum of eDiscovery, using tools like Microsoft Purview, Relativity and Celebrite, to ensure the defensible identification, collection, and preservation of electronically stored information (ESI) across a wide range of corporate systems and hardware. You will also bring a deep, practical understanding of corporate legal holds, ensuring seamless management and enforcement of preservation obligations. As a subject matter expert, you will ensure that all data is acquired in a legally defensible, forensically sound manner while maintaining a strict chain of custody to support litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory requests. We are looking for a proactive self-starter with a strong drive for automation, someone who actively identifies opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and proactively drive prioritized projects that align with evolving business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in eDiscovery, digital forensics, or specialized IT incident response—preferably within a highly regulated global industry (e.g., Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, or Finance).
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level proficiency in Microsoft Purview. Proven track record designing, building, and executing end-to-end, legally defensible search, preservation, and collection workflows across Microsoft 365.
  • Hands-on experience with Relativity (RCA certification preferred) and modern cloud collection environments, including Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Practical experience collecting ESI across both Apple (iOS/macOS) and Windows (10/11) environments, including basic handling of encryption (FileVault, BitLocker) and remote collection methodologies. Hands-on familiarity with mobile and computer collection tools—such as Cellebrite (UFED, Digital Collector) and Druva.
  • Experience effectively and proactively coordinating multiple functional areas and stakeholders, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous-improvement mindset. Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive priorities with high precision, autonomy, and professionalism in an ambiguous, evolving environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear legal realities for legal counsel, HR, compliance officers, and external forensic partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant forensic certifications (e.g., CFCE, CCE, CCME, GCFE/GCFA) are a plus, but not required.
  • RCA certification preferred for Relativity.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute legally defensible data preservation and collection strategies across the full enterprise landscape. This includes performing forensic imaging on corporate hardware (iOS, macOS, and Windows laptops/mobile devices), executing cloud-based eDiscovery via Microsoft Purview, and retrieving case-critical data from various internal systems globally.
  • Manage eDiscovery review processes and execute advanced data processing within Relativity and Purview Premium. Prepare data for legal review by applying Boolean search strings, early case assessment (ECA), culling strategies, and TAR/AI workflows. Oversee legal productions and drive continuous process and technology improvements to ensure efficient, defensible outcomes.
  • Handle core operational workflows by accurately executing time-sensitive data requests, physical evidence handling, and device collections across diverse company systems. Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs), metric tracking, and detailed audit trails for all preservation, collection, and processing tasks—ensuring a strict, defensible chain of custody aligned with EDRM standards.
  • Oversee the operational readiness and end-to-end lifecycle of core eDiscovery and forensic tools, including Microsoft Purview, Relativity, Cellebrite, and Druva. Proactively manage software updates, perform troubleshooting, and ensure all platforms are optimized to meet legal, compliance, and investigative needs.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine collection workflows to account for new OS updates (iOS, macOS, Windows 11) and emerging security features (e.g., FileVault, BitLocker, MDM profiles). Proactively deploying workflow automation/AI improvements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal and compliance data services.
  • Proactively develop and maintain strong, trusting business relationships with key legal and compliance stakeholders, RDT, and other internal or external partners. Act as a trusted liaison to legal and compliance teams (e.g. eDiscovery and Internal Investigations) by exhibiting exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into clear legal realities for legal and compliance teams and non-technical stakeholders.
