Technical Ex-Founder

About The Position

We are on a mission to give patients the care they deserve by making it easy to navigate the healthcare system. Aviator aims to become the entry point into the healthcare system for every family. We are building a care coordination system driven by human healthcare experts and AI to help every patient access the necessary care to live a longer, healthier life. We’ve found that ex-founders thrive here because this role is a startup inside a startup. You'll own products end-to-end, from talking to patients about what's broken, to defining the solution, to shipping it, to iterating in production. There's no committee - you define the roadmap. You'll work directly with the CEO on the hardest, most consequential problems we have: how do you make a complex, high-stakes healthcare workflow feel effortless? How do you build agentic systems that handle real clinical logistics reliably? How do you ship a world-class consumer health product from scratch? This role is in person in New York City, 5 days / week.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering in a fast-pace environment.
  • Deep knowledge of agent frameworks, automation tools, LLMs, and generative AI.
  • Production AI systems with real-time inference requirements.
  • A strong product sense and design intuition - you care about usability, polish, and user delight, not just functionality.
  • Have high agency: you can set direction, make judgment calls, and drive projects forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Have founded a company or been a very early engineer at a startup.
  • Always ask “why not now?” We want to build a lot of products and features which means we need to ship at an accelerated pace.
  • Want to solve big, challenging problems that impact millions of lives.
  • Have a strong sense of ownership and bias toward action.
  • Have shipped 0→1 products in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate clearly in writing: PR descriptions, docs, and Slack updates keep the team in sync.
  • Are adaptable and able to dive into unfamiliar systems, learn quickly, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Enjoy collaborating with a small, ambitious team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are excited to work 5 days a week in our New York HQ (or open to relocating here).

Responsibilities

  • Own the consumer product end-to-end: define what to build, talk to users, ship it, and iterate with high autonomy.
  • Build and orchestrate multi-agent systems that handle real healthcare workflows autonomously: scheduling, prior auth, benefit navigation, and care coordination tasks that today require a human.
  • Develop voice agent interfaces and conversational flows that work for real patients.
  • Build browser-native automation that can navigate payer portals, insurance websites, and provider systems on behalf of patients, ie the messy, unstructured real world of healthcare infrastructure.
  • Design and run evals frameworks to measure agent reliability, safety, and accuracy at scale.
  • Move fluidly between product surface areas. When a problem is solved and productionized, you hand it off and find the next highest-leverage thing.

Benefits

  • Company Equity
  • Mentorship from team investors and advisors
