About The Position

Trissential is partnering with a client to hire a Technical Documentation Specialist (Technical Writer II) for a contract role. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping and standardizing cybersecurity documentation within a highly regulated environment. The specialist will be responsible for developing, standardizing, and maintaining documentation across cybersecurity tools and platforms, creating high-quality playbooks, onboarding guides, SOPs, job aids, and best practices. The role involves leading discovery sessions with SMEs, managing the documentation lifecycle, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining documentation repositories, primarily in SharePoint. The specialist will also identify gaps and recommend improvements to documentation quality and processes. This is a long-term opportunity with potential for multi-year extensions, offering exposure to AI tools like Copilot for modernizing documentation processes.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation roles
  • Strong experience within cybersecurity domains (IAM, logging/monitoring, IT/OT environments)
  • Proven ability to create structured, standardized documentation frameworks
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead information-gathering sessions
  • Experience working in regulated industries (utilities, healthcare, finance, or government)
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to enhance documentation workflows
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in utility or highly regulated infrastructure environments
  • Exposure to process improvement or documentation transformation initiatives
  • Understanding of cybersecurity tools, platforms, and operational workflows
  • Certifications in technical writing or cybersecurity

Responsibilities

  • Develop, standardize, and maintain documentation across cybersecurity tools and platforms
  • Create high-quality playbooks, onboarding guides, SOPs, job aids, and best practices
  • Lead discovery sessions with SMEs to extract and refine technical content
  • Manage documentation lifecycle, including version control and continuous improvement
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with compliance policies and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and optimize documentation repositories, primarily within SharePoint
  • Identify gaps and provide recommendations to improve documentation quality and processes
