About The Position

We are looking for a Technical Director who lives at the intersection of high-level strategy and deep-stack execution. You aren't here to just manage tickets or delegate from the sideslines — you are here to get your hands dirty alongside the team, partner with the Principal of Engineering to define our tech stack, mentor a team of high-performers, and serve as the "Technical North Star" for our most ambitious clients.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years actively building in backend development — not just overseeing it.
  • 5+ years mastering architecture patterns (Microservices, SOA).
  • Expert practitioner in Next.js (3+ years).
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Contentful (or similar headless CMS).
  • Architect and build for the cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • At least 3 years of experience leading technical strategy directly with clients — and can back every recommendation with code.
  • Ability to assist the Account/Sales team in scoping new projects and writing technical SOWs, grounded in real implementation experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience shipping production applications using React Native, Gatsby, or Flutter.
  • Familiarity with implementing LLMs, vector databases, or machine learning models into modern web architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Take full, hands-on ownership of the end-to-end architecture for key client products, ensuring 100% alignment with security and scalability best practices — and writing code when it matters.
  • Establish a mentorship framework that results in measurable skill growth for your direct reports, specifically in Next.js and Cloud Native architecture — leading by example, not just by instruction.
  • Successfully lead three "Innovation Roadmaps" for clients, translating complex business needs into technical blueprints that you help the engineering team execute — not just hand off.
  • Act as the final point of escalation, rolling up your sleeves to ensure all technical debt is managed and all production issues are resolved within client SLAs.

Benefits

  • 100% Employer-Paid Premiums for Health and Dental
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits (Day 1): 100% Prescription Drug Coverage and Extended Healthcare, 80% Dental, Vision Care, Life Insurance, AD&D, and Critical Illness.
  • $500 annual Paramedical Support per practitioner, per person
  • $1,200 annual Health/Wellness Spending Account (HSA/WSA)
  • 3 weeks vacation (minimum)
  • 5 paid sick days
  • Paid leave for bereavement and jury duty
  • Competitive pay
  • Group RRSP (GRSP) with 2.5% employer matching (1-year vesting schedule)
