Technical Director
About The Position
The Technical Director coordinates the technical operators supporting newscasts and other live and recorded productions. The role supervises and assigns duties to workers involved in technical control and program production, monitors pictures, and directs camera and video staff on composition. The Technical Director serves as a liaison between engineering and production, and works with news producers to deliver clean, high-energy newscasts. The position also trains camera and CG operators, switches video sources while giving direction during live broadcasts, tests equipment, assists with digital content production, and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in news operations and production, depending on market size.
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
- Proficiency with broadcast control equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
