About The Position

BCI, a leader in the women's fashion industry since 1975, is seeking a Freelance Technical Designer. With a portfolio of brands including CeCe, Vince Camuto, Ted Baker, 1.State, and Parker, BCI is committed to quality, style, innovation, excellence, and women's empowerment. This role supports Senior Technical Designers in ensuring garment quality and adherence to specifications throughout the pre-production process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of pattern making, draping, measuring, garment construction, grading, and factory production.
  • Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, sewing techniques, trim, and technical knowledge of fabric and construction.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Word.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze workload and plan accordingly with exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload and tasks.
  • Strong work ethic, able to self-motivate, work with cross-functional teams when necessary, and make call-outs that display efficiency for the teams and future endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Technical Designers.
  • Prepare for fittings by measuring samples, cross-examining them against Tech Packs and previous fit samples, and ensuring previous comments have been corrected.
  • Attend fittings to review overall fit, balance, and garment details through production.
  • Develop clear and comprehensive tech packages for factories.
  • Correspond with factories/vendors to ensure reorder styles meet spec requirements, including communicating fit comments.
  • Maintain professional and clear daily communication with the cross-functional team and factories regarding construction details, fit, and pattern issues.
  • Update tech packs with current information for BOM, construction templates, and measurements.
  • Issue grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval.
  • Work with Design to ensure fit, balance, and aesthetics throughout the pre-production process within calendar deadlines.
  • Self-manage workload based on calendar due dates and production deadlines, prioritizing with a sense of urgency.
