About The Position

Research and coordinate activities related to design projects and developmental needs pertaining to Performance and Greige Fabrics that meet our customer needs. Maintain weaving records and technical documentation, create cost requests, and set up new product components and data within the business system to support product development and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in related field, such as textile design, engineering or technology
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience (manufacturing/textile)
  • Expert knowledge of woven design and construction
  • Expert knowledge of dobby weaving and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of yarn properties and weave preparation, including warping and slashing
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with vendors, primarily yarn vendors, to source product for new developments
  • Ability to learn and gain knowledge of customer needs and markets, and design product to meet those needs
  • Ability to work in a team environment within all aspects of organization
  • Confidence to lead and manage tasks
  • High levels of initiative and resourcefulness
  • Ability to teach, train, and share knowledge gained through industry experience
  • Language proficiency to read, write, understand and communicate essential job functions and safety
  • Must have the skill set to create materials and make presentations to professional staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Textile CAD design, specifically, Nedgraphics Dobby Pro experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide design insight and leadership by ensuring high quality, consistent design work while displaying the expertise that goes into each product.
  • Work in conjunction with other members of the S&T and Sales Teams in the development of fabrics and concepts that align with our markets. Actively participate in collaborative design development discussions.
  • Learn and develop an understanding of PFG’s business, and be able to create quality products and solutions based on that knowledge
  • Create cost requests, weaving data sheets, pattern technical sheets, and set up part in PFG’s business system (yarns, section beams, loom beams, greige fabric) for all new products.
  • Research new yarns for new developments. Contact vendors for availability, pricing, and MOQ.
  • Actively participate in collaborative product development discussions and present ideas to internal teams.
  • Ability to travel to visit customers with product managers
  • Ability to travel to attend relative conferences and trade shows
  • Organize and maintain records of sample and production weaving data sheets.
  • Keep all (development and production) weaving data sheet records up to date.
  • Lead weekly development meeting with manufacturing, sales & marketing, and S&T. Keep records of those meetings.
  • Provide technical weaving support to all team members of the organization, including S&T, Sales & Marketing, QC, and manufacturing.
  • Submit potential fabrics to analytical lab, and review results. Make recommendations to sales and marketing on our ability to replicate such fabrics. Source yarns if needed.
