About The Position
Gensler Los Angeles is currently seeking an experienced Technical Designer (Job Captain) with a successful track record and architectural background to work on higher education projects. In this position, you will collaborate with a team of designers and architects to produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members, ensuring our projects exceed client expectations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of related professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field
- Experience in leading multiple projects of varying scales
- Experience with core & shell and/or interiors experience
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications and construction techniques
- Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
- Strong leadership, organizational, verbal and written communication, and relationship management skills
- Strong Revit skills (Level 4 or 5) required
- Experience in AutoCad, Adobe CS, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling software a plus
- Applications will not be considered without uploaded portfolio/work samples
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of sustainable design strategies and experience on net zero projects is a plus
- On the path to licensure preferred
Responsibilities
- Produce and leads accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of projects
- Provides project team coordination for incorporating design intent into construction documentation, assign tasks, and lead technical drawings
- Leads construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues and maintain quality control during construction
- Coordinates and direct consultants, specification writers to meet overall project objectives
- Collaborates with Contractors, Fabricators and Regulatory Agencies /3rd party teams
- Utilize hand sketches and 3D software, and Revit to communicate design concepts
