About The Position
Munich Re is seeking a Technical Data Specialist Sr. for its Global Data & Analytics Production Support organization, supporting the Global Specialty Insurance business. This role provides operational oversight of critical data warehouse capabilities, data quality, production support processes, and incident management. Working with business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, and support teams, the specialist helps ensure the reliability, availability, and operational effectiveness of enterprise data assets while supporting strategic data transformation initiatives. The position combines production support leadership, data engineering expertise, stakeholder management, and operational governance. It oversees data warehouse operations; coordinates incident triage, resolution, escalation, and root-cause analysis; and drives operational metrics, platform improvements, documentation, and support practices. The role also provides subject matter expertise across enterprise data platforms and supports ETL/ELT environments, vulnerability remediation, and platforms including Databricks, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and Informatica IDMC. The specialist leads data-run initiatives and modernization support, works with business and technology leaders to prioritize enhancements, and contributes to governance, audit, compliance, risk management, issue resolution, and product budget management. The role is hybrid, with 40–50% on-site work, and the listed locations are Princeton, New Jersey; Hartford, Connecticut; and Cincinnati, Ohio. The company does not offer employment-based visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in production support, data engineering, data operations, or technical leadership roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise data platforms in financial services, insurance, or similarly regulated industries.
- Experience with Databricks, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC).
- Experience supporting ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and large-scale enterprise data environments.
- Strong understanding of data warehouse, Lakehouse, and cloud-based data architectures.
- Demonstrated experience with incident management, operational governance, service management, and production support frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate with senior business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and technology teams.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the health, availability, and reliability of enterprise data warehouse operations.
- Direct triage and resolution of production incidents, job failures, and data quality issues.
- Establish incident priorities and lead root-cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
- Coordinate escalation management and stakeholder communications for critical production events.
- Define and monitor operational success metrics for data products, reporting assets, platforms, and enterprise data capabilities.
- Identify and prioritize enhancements to improve platform stability, scalability, performance, and usability.
- Keep operational documentation, support procedures, controls, and evidence current and audit-ready.
- Support and continuously improve production support operating models and service management practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, and data APIs.
- Provide leadership across ETL/ELT processing environments and modern cloud-based data ecosystems.
- Coordinate vulnerability remediation, including Mythos findings, with infrastructure, architecture, delivery, and support teams.
- Support operational management of Databricks, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Informatica IDMC platforms.
- Lead strategic data-run initiatives that support production environments and modernization programs.
- Partner with business product owners and technology leaders to prioritize backlog items and enhancements.
- Contribute to enterprise data transformation while maintaining continuity of day-to-day support.
- Help shape operational strategies that improve business value, platform adoption, and data reliability.
- Collaborate with business and IT leadership to align operational priorities with organizational objectives.
- Manage prioritization and resolution processes for production data defects.
- Support compliance, governance, audit, and risk management activities.
- Manage product budgets, including labor resources, subscriptions, licensing, and operating expenditures.
