About The Position

This role involves conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations, and wearing proper personal protective equipment. The Technical Communicator will maintain communication between the dealership and Caterpillar regarding equipment technical issues, advise upper management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support, and provide technical information for technicians or customers needing assistance in solving technical issues. The position also includes monitoring and distributing Caterpillar Product Support Program Information, new service information, and Warranty Bulletin updates. The role requires approaching work in a positive manner, maintaining conduct supportive of the work team, and setting a standard for others. Contributions to team efforts include accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations. The Technical Communicator will also train and/or mentor others in the department, temporarily assume the Supervisor's position as necessary, and provide expert counsel to internal/external staff, customers, and suppliers on technical and product issues. Utilizing the Dealer Solution Network for communication to resolve product issues with the OEM, attending training sessions, and training others as necessary are also key responsibilities. Guiding and mentoring others within the department in the performance of duties in a helpful and educational manner, performing Field/Shop Audits, Failure Analysis Investigations, and providing accurate unbiased reports based on their results are also part of the role. Completing special projects in a timely and accurate manner as assigned by management, and working in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways of improving the methods of work, work area, and safety standards are expected. The position also includes performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7 or more years of experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Completed all required Technical Communicator training
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office programs
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Educated in Applied Failure Analysis I
  • Educated in relevant specialized Caterpillar Product Certifications as required
