About The Position

WhereTo is a business travel startup from San Francisco that evolved into an agile development and design studio within the Flight Centre family. We build travel solutions used by some of the largest companies on the planet - we have just one goal: making business travel better for everybody. WhereTo provides an AI-powered travel platform for corporate travel. Their platform uses machine learning algorithms to recommend personalized travel options based on a traveler's preferences, company policies, and budget. WhereTo's technology also allows for real-time travel tracking, reporting, and cost analysis, enabling companies to optimize their travel programs and reduce costs. We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join our W2 Portfolio Delivery team and play a key role in delivering impactful travel technology solutions. This position sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders, helping transform complex business needs into actionable solutions. You'll contribute to critical platform initiatives, including performance and latency improvements, while supporting the delivery of high-quality customer experiences. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Technical Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or a related technology-focused role.
  • Strong experience working with Engineering and QA teams within complex technology environments.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles and SDLC concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with performance engineering, application monitoring, or observability practices.
  • Deep experience within corporate travel, online booking tools (OBTs), or travel technology environments.
  • Knowledge of GDS and NDC technologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively translate between business and technical stakeholders.
  • Background in software development, engineering, systems analysis, or technical QA preferred.
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connectivity required to support core job responsibilities, including but not limited to video conferencing, access to company systems, and secure handling of company data.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze business processes, system impacts, dependencies, and risks across the W2 ecosystem.
  • Support backlog refinement, prioritization activities, solution discussions, and delivery planning.
  • Ensure requirements provide sufficient clarity for development and testing teams.
  • Support performance and latency improvement initiatives through analysis of customer journeys and transaction flows.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to understand system architecture, integrations, APIs, data flows, and downstream dependencies.
  • Investigate defects and complex system issues, helping identify root causes and potential solutions.
  • Analyze logs, API responses, system behaviors, and data flows to support troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Translate technical findings into business impacts, recommendations, and actionable requirements.
  • Conduct impact assessments for new features, platform changes, and integrations.
  • Partner with Engineering to identify bottlenecks, risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Define and support performance metrics, baselines, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure comprehensive business, functional, and edge-case test coverage.
