Technical Business Analyst
About The Position
United Way BC is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to play a key role in leveraging data for decision-making, strengthening community impact, and enhancing organizational performance. This role involves leading and contributing to initiatives in data analysis, reporting, and business process improvement, translating data into actionable insights. The Technical Business Analyst will collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain reporting solutions, conduct trend analysis, support data model development, and contribute to data governance practices. The position also focuses on improving workflows and equipping staff with the necessary tools and knowledge for effective data utilization.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree focusing on Computer Science, Business, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent education/experience.
- Three (3) years' experience as a business, technical, data analyst or related role with experience in researching, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data for management use.
- Proficiency in the use of databases, spreadsheets, project management tools at a moderately to highly complex level.
- Advanced skills in data querying (SQL) and experience with associated BI Tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
- Experience with digital product development life cycles.
- Ability to use and interpret contact management databases.
- Skilled in evaluating, developing, and implementing processes and procedures to achieve objectives and use data effectively.
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment by adapting and modifying sequence of work, methods, and standards to meet changing conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to contribute to developing a successful team environment.
- Strategic thinking with well-developed problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external interactions is critical.
- Candidates must live within 80 KMs (commuting distance) from our office as this position is currently a hybrid role and office attendance is required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of scripting or statistical languages (Python, R, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience with any of the following is an asset, but not required; Advanced data analytics, Machine Learning, Predictive and/or statistical modelling.
Responsibilities
- Develops, supports, and manages reports and dashboards for monitoring key metrics including community impact and financial performance.
- Develops and implements organizational data models.
- Leads and/or participates in organizational initiatives related to research, reporting, and analytics.
- Conducts comprehensive analysis, highlighting key insights and recommendations on donor strategies, fundraising initiatives, and impact strategy.
- Contributes to the development of operational strategies including measurement, tracking, trends analysis, benchmarking, and goal setting where applicable.
- Educates and supports staff to strengthen their data knowledge and facilitate effective communication and data usage.
- Supports data governance practices and activities, contributing to the development and maintenance of a business glossary and data quality standards.
- Reviews methodologies, procedures, and workflows to identify areas for operational efficiency improvement.
- Develops and manages process documentation.
- May participate in community engagement or fundraising activities.
- Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job.
Benefits
- This is a bargaining unit role with CUPE Local 1760.
- This position is at pay grade 39 which is $92,310.40 annually.
