Technical Business Analyst Co-op with Drexel University
About The Position
The Susquehanna Co-op Program gives students the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world business scenarios. As a Technical Business Analyst Co-op, you will work with departments across the firm and may act as a bridge between operations and development and technical teams, translating business requests into tools, systems, and reports that support business operations. You may also help produce and maintain daily, monthly, and annual reports used by Managing Directors in decision-making. The role provides exposure to the firm’s business, data, and technology, with opportunities to interact with trading, operations, technology, and management teams. The position involves coordinating work between the Bala headquarters and the Dublin and Sydney offices. Projects include developing universal calculation tools, improving business processes and controls, supporting an internal books-and-records system, and implementing reconciliation tools for data comparison and trade reporting. Other ad hoc projects may be assigned.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building solutions in relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or MariaDB.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages; Python and VBA are the most-used languages.
- Experience with HTML.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external vendors.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter who is a quick learner and resourceful in solving problems.
- Must be eligible to work without current or future visa sponsorship; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of SDLC models.
- Interest in financial markets and in building functional and technical knowledge to support business needs.
- Experience in Trading Operations, as a Business Analyst, or in a related role.
Responsibilities
- Work between the Bala headquarters and offices in Dublin and Sydney to support development and implementation of universal calculation tools that are agnostic to location and securities type.
- Analyze business processes and workflows and identify areas where processes and controls can be improved or implemented to reduce or mitigate risk.
- Test the effectiveness of controls.
- Support the build-out of an internal system of books and records that incorporates counterparty data from varying trading systems and normalizes it for easier consumption.
- Manage an initiative to implement reconciliation tools that facilitate data comparison and trade reporting.
- Complete ad hoc projects as required.
- Help produce and maintain daily, monthly, and annual reports used by Managing Directors in decision-making.
