About The Position

The Technical Associate is a dynamic and essential role within the technical operations team, focused on supporting the technical aspects of our theatre productions and events. This position requires a technically skilled individual who is adept at managing and operating audiovisual equipment and software. You will collaborate closely with the Technical Director to ensure the highest quality of technical execution for all events and performances. Requirements

  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts, Technical Theatre, or a related field is preferred
  • Some experience in technical direction or support within the performing arts, with a focus on sound, lighting, and visual production
  • Basic knowledge of stage wiring, microphone setup, and power management procedures
  • Familiarity with setting up and operating audio consoles, processing racks, and routing cables
  • Ability to work with a variety of audio and visual equipment, including microphones, mixing consoles (digital and analog), amplifiers, processors, equalizers, loudspeakers, monitors, and auxiliary equipment
  • Proficiency in using video, sound, and image editing software
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds and levels of experience
  • Strong organizational abilities, with flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Familiarity with emergency and accident procedures
  • Proficiency with Q Lab, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and sound/video editing software
  • Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time while navigating multiple levels and areas within a venue

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and operation of sound, lighting, and visual equipment for BNW productions and events
  • Ensure all technical elements are executed accurately and efficiently during performances and events
  • Support the Technical Director in the creation and implementation of media elements using Q Lab, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and video editing software
  • Act as a potential understudy for long-running productions
  • Aid in the maintenance and organization of technical equipment, ensuring everything is functional and securely stored
  • Help with the inventory management of technical equipment, including tracking and reporting on equipment usage
  • Assist in the procurement and purchasing of new technical equipment as needed
  • Provide on-site technical support during BNW shows and other events, including setup and teardown of equipment
  • Assist with the recording of performances and events as requested
  • Act as a liaison between the technical team and other staff to ensure smooth operation during events
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and other team members to support the technical needs of productions
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on best practices and new technologies
