About The Position

At Interpath Laboratory, we’re looking for a Technical Assistant to support our mission of delivering top-notch diagnostic services. This team uses cutting edge technology, including but not limited to digital imaging IFA and PCR testing coupled with Mass Spectrometry. The role involves supporting lab operations by performing a broad range of laboratory procedures and assisting Medical Technologists (MTs) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) in immunology and molecular testing. The Technical Assistant will operate advanced laboratory instruments and electronic systems, provide troubleshooting support, and participate in quality assurance initiatives. Additionally, the role requires delivering exceptional customer service, handling phone calls professionally, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA. Safety protocols and infection control are paramount, and the position may involve taking on additional duties as operational needs evolve.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science field is required. Relevant fields may include, but are not limited to: Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of laboratory practices, principles and equipment.
  • Skilled in multitasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with HIPAA regulations and dedicated to patient confidentiality.
  • Attend work regularly and on time.
  • Must utilize appropriate protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield) at all times while in the lab and are regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.
  • Ability to sit and or stand for extended period of times
  • Lift up to 25 pounds
  • Mobility to climb stairs on a regular basis
  • Must be able to distinguish color and pass vision acuity test in compliance with CAP regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or prior experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or clinical laboratory sciences is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, answer phones professionally, and ensure accurate documentation while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Follow established safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Take on additional duties as operational needs grow and change, contributing to the success of the entire team.
