About The Position

This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student technical position in which the student will support the Innovation Studio with daily operations by assisting users, monitoring equipment, preparing materials, and helping maintain an organized and inclusive workspace. Additional responsibilities may include answering questions, troubleshooting basic issues, and contributing to a welcoming, creative environment for all Studio visitors.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours for undergraduates, 5 for graduates) for Fall/Spring Semesters.
  • F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours for undergraduates, 9 for graduates).
  • Summer Semester enrollment: at least 3 summer credit hours or enrolled for the upcoming fall semester.
  • FWSP positions require enrollment in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
  • New incoming students are not eligible until the semester they begin classes.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and willingness to learn basic equipment operations.
  • Comfortable assisting with hands-on activities and creative projects.
  • Comfortable interacting with a diverse campus community in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for assisting walk-in visitors and answering phone calls.
  • Sensitivity of intercultural communication.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts consistently.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the Studio operational and open according to schedule.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and inform staff of problems with Studio operations.
  • Assist patrons with basics of Studio equipment, hardware, and software including, but not limited to 3D prints, VR systems, Cricut machine, printer, sewing machine, button press, video cameras, audio equipment, laser cutter, and various hand tools.
  • Answer a variety of questions regarding Innovation Studio and library services.
  • Stay updated on Studio procedures, data collection, emails, and appointments.
  • Process 3D print submissions, add prints to the queue, oversee ongoing print jobs, and communicate with patrons about their submissions.
  • Serve as Studio ambassador.
  • Cover supervision of Studio in the absence of staff.
  • May participate in professional development or continuing education activities.
  • Assist professional and support staff with various tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
