About The Position

The High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC for N&P) is an intergovernmental group of over 100 countries championing a global deal for nature and people with the goal of protecting at least 30 percent of the world’s land and ocean area by 2030. This is a hybrid position requiring 4 days per month in the office, based in Washington DC. Existing work authorization is required, and applicants must be residents of DC, Maryland, or Virginia at the start of employment. The intern will support Domoina Rakotobe, Senior Program Officer for Technical Assistance and Capacity Building, and Maggie Brunet, the Rapid Deployment Mechanism's manager, by providing technical support to HAC for N&P countries in accessing tools for implementing the 30x30 target through webinars and in-person events.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, international relations or a related discipline.
  • Analytical skills, along with exposure to environmental policy.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Suite and SharePoint.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and with people from various countries and backgrounds.
  • Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission.
  • Must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Integrating equity into work.
  • Supporting the follow-up of the Rapid Deployment Mechanism (RDM) grantees, including monitoring of grant activities and reporting, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the matchmaking of requests from HAC for N&P members.
  • Organizing and delivering webinars, trainings, and CBD COP 17 technical events.
  • Supporting the production of the Target 3 regional workshops analysis and related communication materials.
  • Developing concrete products such as the Target 3 Regional Workshops Report, HAC 2026 survey report, the HAC for N&P members tracking and systematizing data for future tracking, and the update of the 30x30 partners mapping.

Benefits

  • The pay for this internship opportunity is $20/hour for undergrads; $22/hour for graduates and $24/hour for PhD students.
